Cruising the canals of England and Wales
CANAL VOYAGERS HOTEL BOATS DESTINATIONS

Snipe & Taurus offer a variety of different cruises throughout the year to destinations across England and Wales.

This year, we will be visiting the Kennet & Avon Canal, the River Thames, deepest darkest Cheshire, Manchester, Wales and our wonderful regular cruising grounds of the Midlands.

We are delighted to also introduce new cruises to the East Midlands - visiting for the first time Cambridge, Ely, March and Northampton.

Finding new and interesting places is what we do best.

Our approach to planning our cruising schedule means we work hard to seek out cruises and destinations that will enthuse and excite our guests. Cruising often to destinations where other larger hotel boats cannot venture, or going off the beaten track to waterways that hire boats and private vessels rarely go, our cruises allow you to explore the rich culture and history of each destination.

From April to October, Snipe and Taurus cruise the beautiful canals and rivers of England and Wales. In 2011 we will be visiting the Middle Level and Fenlands of the East Midlands for the first time.

Our cruises have gained an exceptional reputation for a great blend of on board (and 'on shore') activities, knowledgeable and friendly crew and excellent cruising routes with time to enjoy the 'getting there' as well as the destination itself. We hope each cruise leaves each guest with a fuller appreciation of the fascinating history and development of the inland waterways.

Wales and the Welsh Borders

Throughout June, Canal Voyagers will be cruising the canals of Wales and the Border Counties of Shropshire and Cheshire. An area with exceptional natural beauty, the rich farming heritage gives one of the most rural areas of the country a feeling of stepping back in time. Our cruises into Wales also take in the spectacular Chirk and Pontcysyllte aqueducts, carrying the canal over a hundred feet above the valley floor.

Heritage in the Heart

May and July sees Canal Voyagers cruising in the Heart of England, taking in the contrasting tranquility of the Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire countryside as well as the hustle and bustle of major historic towns and cities.

Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon is always a popular destination, as well as the River Severn towns of Worcester and Gloucester. Warwick's famous castle is worth exploring and Oxford's dreaming spires are known the world over.

Exploring the East Midlands

The new 2011 programme sees Canal Voyagers venturing into the Fenland counties for the first time, cruising to the famous cities of Ely and Cambridge. These August cruises will also give us some time to venture onto some of the lesser explored rivers of Cambridgeshire, and avoid the busier canals and rivers elsewhere in the country during the peak holiday season.

The Royal River

September often proves to be an Indian Summer in the UK, and we hope for some good weather cruising on the Grand Union canal and Royal River Thames. The old favourites of Windsor and Henley are popular spots and are best approached by river.

Cruises to and from Hampton Court Palace and plenty of lock work on the Grand Union should round off a good year's cruising.
