London 2012 Olympic B&B Mooring

The Summer of 2012 is set to be a very exciting year for London, and with the success of our Royal Wedding celebration last year we wanted to be a part of a fantastic towpath atmosphere once again. We have planned a 3-week stay in the centre of the capital, where we will be operating as a floating Bed and Breakfast during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Arriving on Thursday 26th July (the day before the Opening Ceremony), we will be taking B&B bookings for a stay in the capital until the morning of Monday 13th August (the day after the Closing Ceremony).

British Waterways have provided us with a lovely mooring in the pool of Little Venice, only a 10-minute stroll from Hyde Park, and very close to Paddington station. We can’t do any cruising during the day, as the waterways in London will be closed to boat movements for security reasons, but we will be moored in an excellent spot for exploring the city and soaking up the atmosphere. There is a 3-night minimum stay, simply because we can’t do the laundry turnaround any more quickly than that!

Hyde park will be a hub for tourists during the games, with its six giant video screens and live sports and music events as part of London Live 2012. Our guests will be just a stroll away from the atmosphere and celebration as events are televised live during the day, and can dance the night away as headline musical acts perform live each evening.

Paddington’s reputation as a transport hub means arrival and departure from London is kept as easy as possible during this busy time. Our mooring will be 5 minutes away from Paddington Railway and Underground Stations, with direct links to Heathrow, the West End and quick underground access to the new Javelin rail service at St Pancras station. You could even take a stroll down the Regent’s Canal towpath to reach the Javelin terminus!

We have decided to only offer bed and breakfast, this will help us keep costs down for guests, and allow greater flexibility for them to come and go as they please, without having to worry about mealtimes. You can, of course, expect the same warm welcome, as you would get if coming with us on a cruise, and the high standard of accommodation that you would usually find when holidaying on Snipe and Taurus.
